Research Project Evaluation
Hello everyone!
Please answer the following questions about the Research Project.
Research Paper:
1. Do you think your writing has improved overall by doing this paper? Explain.
2. What are some of the skills you improved in while doing the paper?
3. How do you feel about your paper?
Presentations
1. Did you enjoy listening to the presentations.
2. What did you learn about presentation techniques while listening to them.
3. What did you learn during the process of preparing for your presentations?
4. Were you satisfied with you own presentstion?
Check your classmates postings and and react to them.
Don't forget to work on your Textbook Project, but make sure you get a good night's sleep.
Remember we are beginning at 9:00 on Friday, on the dot!

Weekend of May 26-27 2007
Hello dear students,
Hope you enjoyed your picnic and are enjoying this beautiful Saturday.
You will be getting your lecture marks back early nest week. Your marks for the Research Project will be handed back on Friday, June 1st or Monday, June 4th.
We'll be looking at your blogs next weekend to give you a mark out of 5.
Here is your schedule for the next couple of weeks:
Next Week: Oral presentations, Textbook discussion, engineering project, other
activities, Texbook evaluation and preactivity to Final Evaluation.
Last Week: Final Evaluation, Final Lunch, Graduation on Friday.
Will of course give more details in class.
ASSIGNMENTS FOR THIS WEEKEND:
Look over your notes for Engineering Project.
Read text on Academic Skills. Choose the section that interested you the most and explain why. React to other students.
Begin reading Text Book Project. (pgs. 1-11))Chunk for main ideas and highlight for supporting points and details. Put a question mark in the margin if something is not clear.

Victoria Day Weekend
What a beautiful day!! Hope you are enjoying the outdoors a little...but don't get carried away. Remember the paper?! Send us your work as soon as you have done a page or two....The paper needs to be finished by Tuesday. Tuesday morning will be dedicated to final touches only: Coversheet etc.

Wekend of May 12-13th
Hi there,
Just a reminder....am expecting some drafts of your research papers...send by e-mail please. We expect to get something from everybody, at least a few pages...you don't need to finish a section, just send whatever you have done.
Try to be on time on Monday morning (I am an eternal optimist). Patricia Tokai, a teacher at CELI will be giving the class. The topic will be looking for a job: cv's, letters, interviews - I believe) Should be very interesting.
I'll see you on Monday.

End of week 5!!!
Hello dear students,
Beautiful day today wasn't it (a little cool but beautiful nonetheless).
Sorry I didn't post earlier. Assignments for Monday:
1. Blog your answers to the Discussion questions on Population. Read each other's blogs and react.
2. Introductory paragraph in which you clearly state your focus, and paragraph on one of the main ideas integrating information from the "intelligence" articles.
Remember to attribute using the APA style...eg. Curran(2005) points out.... or According to Curan(2005) intelligence..... Also remember to make a reference list.
3. Tentative outline of your research. We will also be collecting your list of sources.
Have a good day tomorrow and see you on Monday at 9:00 (mid term evaluations will begin at 9:00.

April 28-29th
Hello everyone,
We just completed a very full week: Book Reviews, happiness summaries, lecture project, research project! What's coming up?
Next week we will continue working a little on the happiness summaries.
As well, we will be starting a new unit which will lead into a debate and an argumentative writing.
Also at the end of the week we will be giving you a reading and listening mid-term evaluation(this evaluation does not count for marks but is important for both teachers and students since it will allow us to examine how you are doing on an individual level in these two receptive skills.
Your homework assignment for this weekend is:
RESEARCH PROJECT
Search for books and articles on your topic.
List the sources (on the worksheet Adrianne gave you asking for the title, author etc.) you have found up till now.
Adrianne and I would like to see where you are at in this search.
It is important for you to start surveying and scanning the books and articles you have in order to see if you have enough material or not...
We have not given you any other homework, so please take advantage of this and try to find most of your sources for your topic.

Weekend of April 21-22
Hello dear students,
Finally the weather has changed...go out and enjoy it! BUT remember to do your assignments. Don't wait till Sunday evening, please.
Assignment No. 1: Short answer and essay questions on Gender Communication Unit.
Assignment No. 2: Prepare for oral presentations of Books(even if you are presenting on Tuesday since you will need to work on other assignments on Monday evening for Tuesday.
Assignment No. 3: Blog:Research Topic
Look up some general information on your research topic. Try using Wikepedia Encyclopedia. Summarize some of this information and discuss what you are thinking of doing for your research. Comment on your classmate's topics. Post your comments by Sunday at noon if possible to allow people to comment.
This assignment is important to do in order to take advantage of the library workshop you will be going to on Monday afternoon.

2. Evolution Summary outline: Look over your outlines...revise if necessary.

Easter long weekend
Hello students,
Hope you are enjoying the book you chose to read...it is nice to be inside when the weather is so "miserable". I just want to remind you about some of your assignments for Tuesday.
1. Novel...read the first section. Read and enjoy. Remember what we talked about in terms of vocabulary...try not to use the dictionary too much. Remember to write 7-10 questions so that you can have a good discussion about your book on Tuesday.
2. Pictures of skyscrapers (see Adrianne's blog).
3. Language Learning. Answer questions in complete sentences. Some questions may only require a sentence or two and some require a paragraph or two.
4. If you want to publish anything else on your blogs please do not hesitate. A blog is like a journal so go ahead.
5. Try to comment on other people's blogs (at least two other classmates..)

First Assignment
Welcome to the world of A2 blogging! Blogging in A2 is a writing/response activity.
At this level, you will read articles of current events(newspapers and magazines), summarize and respond to the ideas in the articles. Other students will then respond to the blogs and you will respond to blogs of two other students.
We'll also be using blogs for other purposes such as reaction to a project you have been working on or to a movie you may have recently seen etc.
Blogging will be done on a weekly basis. So let's get started and have some fun.
To practice a little, try responding to my blog. show me that you know how to work on this blog. Press comments at the end of this posting and respond.
